Taxis in La Fortuna answers your calls from 6am to 11pm. After this time, several units work by the central park. The telephone numbers are: (2479-9605 / 2479-9604).Supermarkets open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Super Cristian #1 and Super Cristian #2 2479 9242 / Mega Super.
Most of the Shops and Souvenirs are opened daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Bus Station is located 100mts south of the Catholic Church; there you can take the buses to Tilaran, Ciudad Quesada and San Ramon. You don't need to buy a ticket in advance; you pay directly to the driver. Some phone numbers 2255 4300 and 2453 2980.

Travel Checks are a safe way to carry money, BUT NOT all the places take it and if they take it you have to pay a commission. You can change travel checks directly at the bank with your passport, but, you also will have to pay a commission of 1%.
The best way to save money is buying a Calling Card VIAJERA 199, $8 approx, you can use it from all the telephone cabins and reuse it many times (you can talk for 25 minutes total approx). Calling cards are available at the supermarkets.
Credit Cards are largely accepted as well as the US currency.
